The Accidental Project.

I wanted an old Ford to run around in, and as I live in the country I bought a 6 cylinder Aussie Falcon.

It has a bullbar, aircon, power steering, 4 speed auto, and a petrol/gas conversion making it the ideal long distance country cruiser.

Then disaster struck, a blown radiator hose stranded me on a back road 50k's from anywhere, and here is what the engine looked like.

OOPS!!

Blocked coolant passages would have doomed this engine even if the bottom hose hadn't burst, but the melted two rear pistons are a nice touch.

I got hold of a second hand engine, but decided to check the gearbox while I was at it which led to me discovering more problems. Now one thing has led to another and what was a simple engine swap has turned into a rebuild and upgrade of the whole car.

The gearbox sump turned out to be full of brass shavings, so I pulled my wrecked car out and stripped the auto out of that.
Then I discovered the power steering rack was leaking and worn so I rebuilt that.
The front wheel bearings were also shot, so I replaced them.
I also fitted all new hoses, and new engine and gearbox mounts.
The sills are both rusted out so I'm repairing them and then fitting bolt on sports skirts for a better look.

The interior also got an upgrade with a sports dash, trip computer, and leather covered steering wheel.

Then I got really carried away!

I got hold of a wrecked Fairlane and  rebuilt the Falcon with all the good stuff.

I'm keeping the six cylinder engine in the Falcon as the V8 engine and gearbox in the Fairlane will be going into our Rolls Royce project.
As much of the Fairlane trim and electrics as possible were transferred to the Falcon to make a very comfortable and high spec car.

New trip computer in place. Sports dash in place. Completed interior with leather wheel.
Getting ready to fit engine and Auto. Job done at last! Leather seats, power windows, etc.
